Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Aug 7 – BallenIsles outstanding tennis facilities, which include 22 world class tennis courts, with a stadium court and a state-of-the-art Sports Complex, have been selected as the venue for tennis in  the  First Responder Games, an Olympic-style competition honoring first responders from across the country.

The First Responder Games, currently underway through August 17 at sports venues in Palm Beach County have attracted more than 3,000 first responders competing in more than 30 different sports, including soccer, flag football, softball, golf, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, fishing, racquetball, tennis, swimming, volleyball, bowling, billiards, and cycling.

First Responders from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, Miami Dade Police, Fire Rescue and Corrections Department, Plantation Police Department, and the Margate and Miramar Fire Rescue Departments will compete at BallenIsles August 10th -11th.

“These men and women are on the front line as first responders and our members agreed that this was an excellent opportunity to give back to our nation’s heroes,” said BallenIsles General Manager Derrick Barnett. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has partnered with the United States Firefighter Games to bring the event to Palm Beach County for the first time. BallenIsles Country Club was Host site in North County earlier this year for the ITF Seniors World Championships, one of the largest international Amateur Tennis Events in the world.

The highly valued tennis program at BallenIsles continues to attract a Who’s Who of former and current Grand Slam champions including Venus and Serena Williams, Virginia Wade, Caroline Wozniacki, Stan Smith, Fred Stolle, Mats Wilander, Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, Mikael Pernfors, Jimmy Arias, Aaron Krickstein, Van Winitsky, Gigi Fernandez and Alina Jidkova.
